The University College of the Cayman Islands provides training to a range of student clients at various levels, during both day and evening. The College operates on a twelve-month calendar and offers associate degree programmes, bachelor and masters degrees, continuing adult education, competency-based certificate programmes and executive training. The University invites applications for the following faculty positions for the academic year beginning August 17th, 2009.

Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Biological Science

The position covers the teaching of general biology and environmental science primarily at the associate level, with preference being given to candidates who can teach biochemistry at the bachelor level.

Qualifications:
Must have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related field at the time of employment; demonstrated ability for outstanding teaching, and the ability to run laboratory experiments with minimal assistance.

Job Description:
The faculty’s role is to professionally manage the learning process and to advise students in achieving and establishing learning objectives in accordance with their goals. The faculty is to make use of all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment, which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.

General Requirements:
Minimum 3 years relevant experience with prior experience at the post-secondary level is desirable and a strong commitment to teaching is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in course development and with the accreditation process. Preference will also be given to applicants with relevant industry experience, a commitment to working with diverse student and community populations, and the ability to foster close relationships with relevant sectors of the community.
