Acorn Publishing Intern Job 2009

Acorn Publishing is a small and dynamic publishing company who produce the New Resident and Good Taste magazines annually. We are a fun team who work closely together, often under time constraints, and the successful candidate will have a great deal of fun while working hard and learning just how a small business really works. You will be a vital component of our team and we are looking for the exceptional candidate who is willing to jump in and give this job their all.

Period of employment: Early May 2009 to mid September 2009

Salary: $10 per hour

Usual working hours: Flexible working hours to fit around your studies but on average 25 hours per week increasing to 40 hours for the occasional week during your summer holidays.

Job description:

The role with Acorn Publishing is varied and multifaceted but will include

1)      Researching and updating the content of the New Resident magazine.

2)      Keeping track of the artwork from clients and liaising with our graphic designer to ensure all ads have been proofed and signed-off on.

3)      Writing or rewriting some articles

4)      Proof reading

Necessary Skills:

A perfectionist’s attention to detail is paramount. Good command of written English including good grammar and excellent spelling skills are essential. A writing test and a telephone test will be given. The successful candidate must be computer literate and have good organizational skills. The chosen candidate must have the ability to communicate clearly, professionally and confidently with clients on the telephone.

Other:

The successful candidate will work in a small team, under little supervision and have extremely good time management skills. A clean driver’s licence and the use of a car is essential.
